Initial discussion was need for new directors. Dennis resigned, and we were left with six members, and only Bob is strong on basketball. It was decided that individual and email contact should be made by existing directors. Lisa had at least one person in mind. One other person expressed interest in becoming a director, but then declined.
Discussion of Potts family situation. Student transfers from Holy Apostles school to a public school. This student played for HA for one year. HA does not allow CCD players on its teams, it is a school based program. This student then enrolled in another parish’s CCD program, where CCD participants can play for that school. Student wants to play for parish based team where she attends CCD. Discussion of what would be needed.
Discussion of Membership meeting for basketball, tentatively set for Monday Sept 17, SMHC. We need final BB team commitments by October 1.
Discussion of Bob Roloff’s scheduling task. Enormous task since Tom left. Tom took care of rosters, scheduling of games, scheduling of refs, reporting of scores, administration of referees. He does not want to be involved in parent or coaching complaints. Discussion postponed until Bob arrived.
8th grade volleyball will have 2 middle divisions. There was some discussion of moving a combined 7-8 down to 7th, but there were more than 2 8th graders so that could not be done.
There were still three checks outstanding for
volleyball.
Some gyms only made their gyms available for 2 or 3 hour slots, which were not usable. Norm needed at least four and preferably five hour slots, because of the double headers. If a school wants more games played at their gym, they should allow five hour time slots.
Discussion of transfer for Lynch Family. Daughter transferred from St. Joes Wauwatosa to SMEG, so that child could walk to school. Documentation reviewed and approved.
St. Romans player Ashley Nesleit is suspended for four games, and her father suspended from coaching for one year, as a result of participation in a MPS recreation league at the same time as participation in PPL basketball league. Complaint, documentation, and other materials were reviewed and discussed, and the above decision was made.
Nativity of the Lord (old Holy Family in
St. Martin of Tours was also back in, with one team in 5th grade.
24 parishes are participating in volleyball, with approximately 30 teams per grade.
We are still counting three hit awards.
Bob joined the meeting. Discussion of his responsibilities. He will take care of all basketball except handling complaints. He may hire others to do specific tasks. It was agreed that Bob would be hired on the same basis as Tom Lindner, with a contract amount of $2,000, which is what the other metropolitan leagues are doing. Unanimously approved.
Meeting adjourned.
