PPL Basketball meeting of
Roger, Dave, Keith, Neil, Bob, Lisa present. Norm Was absent
Lisa started the meeting with some opening remarks and a period of silence with reference to the September 11 attack.
Turned floor over to Bob, the Basketball Sport Coordinator.
Bob explained that he is learning some of the tasks previously performed by others no longer with the board, and asked for patience in this transition period.
He expressed his preference to be tougher on coaches, fans, and players who become unruly or belligerent at games. He expressed his feelings that one game suspensions were perhaps not tough enough.
Bob went through some of the forms from the handout package. Note that the contact person on the coaches’ sheet may not be the AD or Sport Coordinator. Bob needs a reliable contact (preferably with a cell phone that is on over weekends) in order to advise of cancelled games due to weather or other factors.
Bob discussed the important dates
September 30, firm team commitments with $250 per team fee. Coaches listing also due.
October 30, schedules available
November 16, team rosters due. Make sure these have address and school, especially for CCD children. It must list their school.
November 17-18, earliest start date for boys
November 24-25, earliest start date for girls
December 29-30 No scheduled games
February 23-24 Last possible scheduled game
Gyms should email scores to Bob at rol7033@execpc.com no later than
Basketball rules. Bob is not aware of any changes yet.
In the event of an emergency requiring Bob’s attention, his cell phone, which will be on weekends, is 414-640-5837
Several AD’s requested that the weekend before Christmas be left open. Bob said he would try to do this if there was sufficient gym time on other weekends. This may require double games on some weekends.
If teams need certain days off because of scouting or plays, the request should be made in writing to Bob Roloff no later than Oct 1. Email is acceptable.
Clinic info. St. Greg’s is having a coaches certification clinic on Oct 18. Keith will find out from Archdiocese whether additional clinics are planned.
If any team wants to move up in the divisions, they should request this in writing to Bob Roloff before October 1. Email is acceptable.
Entry fees are up to $250 primarily because of an increase in ref fees. Tournaments are pushing up the prices that we need to pay to hire quality refs.
Discussion of team splits. Must end up with 4 or less game differential. Discussion of uniform penalties for violations. Board needs to address this issue.
Tentative commitments taken.
Meeting adjourned
