A note Regarding Transfer Students We know of quite a few instances where a student is playing basketball for a new school this year, and their address has not changed. If a transfer student plays in violation of the transfer rule and does not get approval from the archdiocese, that team will forfeit games played with that student. Coaches and AD's should be checking new students in 6th through 8th grade. If that student has played for another Catholic school last year, the coach should determine if the student has moved or changed addresses in the last year. If so, the student is not violating the archdiocesan transfer rule. If the student has transferred schools and has not moved, the student's family needs to get in contact with the archdiocesan office to determine if a waiver can be granted.

Suggested language for the tournament Info Sheet (Courtesy Divine Mercy) PLAYER ELIGIBILITYThe ****** is a league or school-based tournament, meaning that the majority of the team’s players must attend the school for which they are playing. You may not pick up players, combine teams or in anyway deviate from your teams’ regular league roster. No select, invite only, AAU or All-Star teams are allowed. Tournament Director reserves the right to make final decision. Only players listed on the tournament roster are eligible to play. Accuracy of the roster you submit is crucial. Any violation of player eligibility could lead to disqualification from the tournament. Suggested Language for the Tournament Roster Sheet (Courtesy Divine Mercy)By signing below, I verify that the roster listed above is the same as my league roster and no players were added from an outside team or combined to form this team. I acknowledge any infractions to this rule will result in a disqualification from the tournament and no monies returned. Head Coach Signature_____________ Principal / Pastor Signature Some thoughts on playing time from a former grade school basketball coach that I have a lot of respect for. Have three core players for starters and leave two spots for the other kids to work toward and announce the starters at the last practice so the two new starters can go home and tell mom, dad and the grandparents. Always start one weak player. Nothing but nothing happens during the first 3 to four minutes
of a basketball game, and every parent wants to see the kids walking out as a starter at least once. |
